Ponto De Equilibrio , Abre La Janela
Abre a Janela is a good inroad to reggae from the less conservative end of the 'world' music scene.

Nelly - Brass Knuckles
Artist: Nelly Review: Combining Will Smith's friendliness with St. Louis slang and a down-home drawl, Nelly has mastered his own brand of crossover appeal. On his fifth album, he mostly sticks to that pop-rap formula, cranking his distinctly melodic flow to hyper-speeds and playing the good-natured hedonist on cuts like "Party People." But when he tries to come off hard on a handful of Dirty South brawlers, he ends up sounding generic: "U Ain't Him" finds him rhyming about gunplay and warning no one in particular abo... Foals - Antidotes
Artist: Foals Review: For their adventurous debut, this Oxford quintet recorded with TV on the Radio's Dave Sitek; the schizophrenic result is both twenty-first-century Brit pop (see Bloc Party) and nuevo New York art rock (see Battles). On "Electric Bloom," the combination is magic: Interlocking guitars and glints of electro-metallic percussion swarm around intimations of disaster, with maybe the most compelling enunciation of the word "hospital" since the first Modern Lovers LP. Later, a metronomic guitar... Rating: 3.5 Stars
Silver Jews, Lookout Mountain Lookout Sea
Perhaps it's enough to say that this is the best album to come out of Tennessee this year; indeed possibly the world.
Stevie Ray Vaughan & Friends, Solos Sessions & Encores
Solos Sessions and Encores gives us a perfect opportunity to reappraise the blistering talent of Stevie Ray Vaughan.
The Futureheads, This Is Not The World
This Is Not the World will no doubt satisfy notoriously hardline Futureheads fans, but may struggle to recruit more.
Black Kids - Partie Traumatic
Artist: Black Kids Review: It's true: Black Kids know how to get down. The interracial crew's "I'm Not Gonna Teach Your Boyfriend How to Dance With You" was last year's hottest indie-rock tail-wagger — a campy mix of pillow-fight synth-pop and B-52s giddiness. Rerecorded versions of "Boyfriend" and other songs from the band's 2007 EP, Wizard of Ahhhs, make up the best moments of their sugary debut LP — which is a tad worrying. But with Brit-pop vet Bernard Butler behind the decks, these Floridians still toss... Rating: 3.5 Stars
Otis Redding - Live in London & Paris
Artist: Otis Redding Review: Otis Redding didn't simply "play concerts." The soul giant was a human Mount Vesuvius: He erupted. Redding was at the height of his fame in March 1967, when he played these two brief shows in London and Paris. (He would die in a plane crash in December that year.) And the audience's reaction is ecstatic — it's a fair bet that few of these Europeans had ever witnessed a spectacle quite like Redding and the all-star Stax house band, Booker T. and the MG's and the Mar-Key horns, tearing into... Jazzie B, Presents School Days: Life Changing Tracks From The Trojan Archive
The charm of this compilation comes from its rosy glow of musical nostalgia.
Neon Neon, Stainless Style
A post-modern wonder, as sleek as its subject matter.
Okkervil River - The Stand Ins
Artist: Okkervil River Review: On this album-length sequel to last year's The Stage Names, these Austin indie rockers continue to dissect the looking-glass emptiness of life spent on the stage, as well as in the cheap seats. "Fuck long hours, sick with singing," frontman Will Sheff sings over slow-building, mariachi-style blues on "Bruce Wayne Campbell Interviewed on the Roof of the Chelsea Hotel, 1979," a boozy, post-fame portrait of the late gay glam rocker Jobraith. Like its predecessor, The Stand Ins also... Rating: 3 Stars
Music Review | Shelby Lynne: Well-Behaved Covers, Then a Jolt of Originality
Ms. Lynne gave the impression of diligent restraint along with a sort of professional civility.
Motorpsycho, Little Lucid Moments
Little Lucid Moments is a relentless effort from a band making heroic guitar music for the young or dynamic.
The Black Keys, Attack & Release
Attack & Release is a remarkably easy album to like.
Luciano, Jah Is My Navigator
Jah Is My Navigator is a return to form, and a good indication of what the fuss is about.
Jonas Brothers - A Little Bit Longer
Artist: Jonas Brothers Review: History teaches us not to dismiss kiddie pop. Stevie Wonder was once Little Stevie Wonder, just as Lil Wayne was once little Lil Wayne, child gangsta rapper. And let's not forget ex-Mouseketeers Britney and Justin. Purists disdain teenybopper music as cynical pap, foisted on the young by Svengalis who lurk in the shadows, counting money. But bubblegum can be a great farm system, honing skills that pay dividends in later life. Lately, Disney's kiddie pop has been plenty profitable, with High... Rating: 4 Stars
