Herbaliser, The
Twórczość Herbalisera pokazuje, jak elastyczna może być hiphopowa formuła. Dokonania londyńskiego duetu niewiele mają wspólnego z kojarzonymi z tym gatunkiem stereotypami....

Lou Reed - Berlin: Live at St. Ann's Warehouse
Artist: Lou Reed Review: Upon the 1973 release of Berlin, a Rolling Stone critic deemed the record "patently offensive." Thirty years later, Lou Reed's concept album about speed freaks on a downward spiral of infidelity, spousal abuse, parental neglect and death ranked 344 on this magazine's 500 all-time-greatest-albums list. Reed has always fed upon this kind of irony, and in 2006 he staged a concert adaptation of his rock musical in Brooklyn. (Painter-filmmaker Julian Schnabel shot the performances.) Where Reed once... Big Blue Ball (Peter Gabriel) - Big Blue Ball
Artist: Big Blue Ball (Peter Gabriel) Review: Gabriel fans hoping for a follow-up to 2002's Up will have to keep waiting. Big Blue Ball is neither new nor is it strictly Gabriel, although the pioneering art rocker's aesthetic stamp (and, on four songs, his voice) is all over this global-music mosaic. In the early Nineties, Gabriel staged a series of jam sessions at his Real World Studios in the English countryside, where musicians ranging from Sinéad O'Connor to Living Colour guitarist Vernon Reid to soukous legend Papa Wemba sang or played... Does It Offend You Yeah?, You Have No Idea What You're Getting Yourself Into
Like a Primark hoodie, it's immaterial whether this record will be remembered fondly in six months.
Various Artists, Every Mouth Must Be Fed
A rewarding collection of foundational roots, pitch-perfect in mood for its summer release.
Cool Kids Of Death
Dawno, dawno temu w Łodzi - mieście kojarzonym wyłącznie z fabrykami włókienniczymi i dwoma zespołami piłkarskimi - powstał pewien zespół rockowy. ...
Lee Ann Womack - Call Me Crazy
Artist: Lee Ann Womack Review: Lee Ann Womack does low-key better than most of her country contemporaries. The gentle mien of Call Me Crazy suits her nuanced singing — the subtle swoops and honeyed drawls that build momentum without bothering to rock out. Lyrically, Womack mostly shuffles between sadness and devotion, mourning a dead marriage on "Either Way" and admitting she's smitten on "I Found It in You." But producer Tony Brown adds some soul to the hard-drinking ballad "Solitary Thinkin' " and builds an ambient... Rating: 3 Stars
Black Kids, Partie Traumatic
Great; but only if you're too young to have heard it all before.
Maanam
Pierwsza polska hippiska, pierwsza polska punkówa, poetka patronująca szkole budowlanej, w końcu wybitna wokalistka od ponad 30 lat trwale zrośnięta z legendarną grupą Maanam, Kora do dziś pozostaje niekwestionowaną królową polskiego rocka....
Kimya Dawson - Alphabutt
Artist: Kimya Dawson Review: Solo and as half of Moldy Peaches, Dawson has applied child-like wisdom and humor to adult issues like crack, romantic love, and the Iraq war. So it makes peculiar sense that she'd follow the freak success of the Juno soundtrack, which featured her on seven tracks, with a set of genuine kids songs. (She also recently became a mom.) But by the time she's halfway through the scatological title track — "C is for cat butt, D is for doo-doo" — it's clear this ain't Nickelodeon. Some songs... Rating: 3 Stars
Luciano, Jah Is My Navigator
Jah Is My Navigator is a return to form, and a good indication of what the fuss is about.
David Archuleta - David Archuleta
Artist: David Archuleta Review: On he most recent season of American Idol, David Archuleta was a golden-voiced koala, too sweet to be sexy. His debut is similarly flavorless: Beautifully sung but snoozy tunes like "My Hands" never achieve takeoff, and his chaste voice is a poor match for lovey-dovey lyrics. He only sounds like he's having a blast on "Don't Let Go," co-written with JC Chasez, which digs into an edgier melody and trades vocal gymnastics for pure power. At least the disc ends with a reminder of how Archuleta got... Rating: 2.5 Stars
Katy Perry - One Of The Boys
Artist: Katy Perry Review: "I hope you hang yourself with your H&M scarf/While jacking off listening to Mozart," Katy Perry tells her metrosexual ex on "Ur So Gay." Risqué words, coming from the daughter of two Christian pastors who only let her listen to gospel tunes as a kid. Now 23, the L.A. singer bucks the WWJD'ers with a debut full of mall-punky, grrrl-power tunes produced by Glen Ballard (Alanis Morissette) and Dr. Luke (Avril Lavigne). But her attention-grabbing doesn't feel very rebellious: On the New Wave-y club... Rating: 2 Stars
U2 - Boy
Artist: U2 Review: From the beginning, U2 aspired to profound ecstasy. But it took Bono, the Edge, Adam Clayton and Larry Mullen Jr. a while to get there. Two of U2's first three albums are undeniable classics: 1980's precociously magnificent Boy for its proudly spiritual optimism in the thick of post-punk nihilism and for the Edge's reveille-treble guitar; 1983's War for its arena-rock muscle tone (honed over three years of touring) and the matured blend of soldier's ardor and pop wile in the singles "Sunday... Boyz II Men, Motown: A Journey Through Hitsville USA
Comparisons to the originals will always be made and are often less than complimentary.
Belle and Sebastian - The BBC Sessions
Artist: Belle and Sebastian Review: Fans of Belle and Sebastian's witty bookworm pop are an obsessive lot, and no doubt they'll snap up this cherry-picked collection of BBC recordings from 1996 to 2001. The draw for devotees is four rare songs from a 2001 session, including a hilarious fan letter to kindred indie-pop intellectuals the Go-Betweens ("Shoot the Sexual Athlete") and a kind of hushed farewell sung by Isobel Campbell, who left the group soon after ("Nothing in the Silence"). Otherwise, aside from a breezy glockenspiel... Rating: 3.5 Stars
